Lesson Plans for the Week of February 29, 2016
The Common Core State Standards are listed in the weekly lesson plans for English 10 and English 12. The syllabus for AP Lit has been approved by the College Board which satisfies the CCSS requirements.

English 10
MondayStudents will take a quiz on Chapter 4. After the quiz, students will continue to work in the Activity Packet, specifically, pages 9, 10, and 11

TuesdayStudents will complete pages 13, 16, and 17 in class. What is not finished in class becomes homework.

WednesdayStudents will discuss the work they did in class yesterday. They will begin reading Chapters 5 and 6. The novel must be finished for Monday.
|
ThursdayStudents will work on claims and evidence to support their understanding of the novel by writing an analysis essay.
The complete assignment and information about organizing the essay can be found on my Of Mice and Men page/of-mice-and-men1.html. Students not in class today must complete this assignment no later than Monday.

FridayGenius Hour!
Blog Post #8: Read the article "How Geniuses Think." Respond to the following: Describe the author's interpretation of Genius and how it differs from conventional definitions of Genius. What are the shared strategies of geniuses? How does your Genius Hour project encourage you to use some of these strategies? |

MondayStudents will have a brief quiz on Chapter 5. Students will get together in their Motif groups from last week. They will add more examples from chapters 3, 4, and 5 to their posters in the back of the classroom.

TuesdayStudents will read Chapter 6.

WednesdayStudents will discuss Chapters 5 and 6 of Gatsby.

ThursdayStudents will gather information for the Gatsby Motif Essay.
