Freedom is not Free
by English 12 First Hour
Class of 2014
As the bombs explode I cower in fear,
Knowing the enemy lines are near.
Mortars fly over my head.
I just want to be safe in my bed.
Trained to fight and do what's right,
Civilians sleep at night, but soldiers lie awake with fright.
Freedom is not given, it's earned.
I learned this as peaceful cities burned.
And now the day has come
To thank them for all they have done
because Freedom is not Free.
