Lesson Plans for the Week of February 22, 2016
The Common Core State Standards are listed in the weekly lesson plans for English 10 and English 12. The syllabus for AP Lit has been approved by the College Board which satisfies the CCSS requirements.

English 10
MondayStudents will take a quiz on chapter 3. After the quiz, students will find the vocabulary words on the OMAM page. Students will look up the definition of each word and use each word in a compound or complex sentence about the novel. This assignment is due on Wednesday.

TuesdayStudents will finish the vocabulary activity from yesterday, then they will begin reading chapter 4. Chapter 4 needs to be finished by Thursday.

WednesdayStudents will continue to work on the Activity Packet, Pages 9, 10, and 11.

ThursdayStudents will have a brief quiz on Chapter 4.

FridayGenius Hour!
Blog Post #7 is: How did you work over the last two weeks to address the five step plan you laid out in Blog Post #6? If you haven’t made progress, explain why. Be accountable. Explain how you will make the progress you need to make. |

MondayStudents will read The Awakening.

ThursdayStudents will practice Multiple Choice. After the MC practice the Awakening Discussion continues.

FridayStudents will have an in-class Q2 Essay. Students who were absent from class on Friday: Please answer the Q2 prompt found at THIS LINK. |
English 12
MondayStudents will have a quiz on Chapters 3&4. After the quiz, students will continue reading.

TuesdayStudents will get together in their Motif groups from last week. They will add more examples from chapters 3, 4, and 5 to their posters in the back of the classroom.

WednesdayStudents will score the quizzes from chapters 1-4. Discussion will follow.

ThursdayStudents will read from Chapter 5 of The Great Gatsby.

FridayGenius Hour Blog Post #8: Read the article "How Geniuses Think." Respond to the following: Describe the author's interpretation of Genius and how it differs from conventional definitions of Genius. What are the shared strategies of geniuses? How does your Genius Hour project encourage you to use some of these strategies? |
